Upper Gauley, Oct. 5
10:37AM: Pillow Rock
Here's my raft (I'm in back, to the right of guide Leah Hildebrand). Just like last year's first run down the Gauley, we did not get anywhere near smacking Pillow Rock with our paddles. Despite it being the first week of October, the temperatures were in the low to mid-80s due to drought and freakishly warm weather throughout the mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States.

10:01AM: Pillow Rock
Here's my raft (I'm in the front left corner of the boat). Our guide was McFly. This was the first -- and ONLY -- time I've ever managed to hit Pillow Rock with my paddle (in seven tries). The second photo is me relishing my accomplishment!
Lower Gauley, Oct. 6
2:12PM: Koontz Flume
Here's my raft (I'm in the front left corner of the boat). Our guide was McFly. The temperatures on this day were again in the low to mid-80s.
